​Dr. Riccardo Orrico

Riccardo Orrico obtained his Ph.D. in 2020 from the University of Salerno (Italy) and the University of Aix Marseille (France), defending a thesis on intonational meaning and individual variability, specifically focusing on encoding and decoding of biased questions in Salerno Italian. He was then a postdoctoral researchers at the University of Naples “Federico II”, where he also explored the intonation-pragmatics interface. He joined SPRINT in 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher working on the perception of intonation.

His main interests include production and perception of intonation, diatopic variability, and individual variability.

SPRINT

SPRINT is the acronym of grant ERC-ADG-835263 titled "Speech Prosody in Interaction: The form and function of intonation in human communication". SPRINT is a 5-year (2019-2024) €2,481,196 research program funded by the European Research Council (ERC). Amalia Arvaniti is the Principal Investigator. SPRINT is based at Radboud University.
